Abstract:	本文將探討針對經由汽車側前方或側後方以錄影方式取得之車牌影像，來進行車牌定位與辨識的研究。首先我們利用 Histogram Equalization[1] 與 Kuwahara 濾波器[2]的演算方法對影像做影像前處理的工作，Histogram Equalization 用於強化車牌文字與周圍影像的對比，以提高車牌文字與車牌周圍於影像中對比強烈的特性。Kuwahara 濾波器用於過濾掉車牌周圍影像較為平滑部分所產生的雜訊，同時也能加強影像中的邊界，以利於後續增強小波轉換的效果。接著對影像進行 5/3 小波
