Abstract:	隨著時代的變遷，早期集合上下學的路隊景象已經由摩托車或安親班接送取代；空間的性質也因為都市化的程度而發生改變，造成舊有的巷道並不適用目前的使用者，形成某種程度的通學障礙。對於老舊社區來說，巷弄是生活空間的一部分，特別是在台灣舊有的城市空間中，因公共設施缺乏，街道遂成為最普遍的公共空間類型，社區通學道就屬於街道型的開放空間，上下學時段雖是以通學為目的，但其他時段則兼具鄰里公園的空間性質。另一方面來說，由於「本土化」意識的覺醒，公立國中、小學正趨向於「社區化」的自省中，校園應該是社區空間的延伸，而不是封閉的 Instead of lining up to walk to school or home, children were picked up by motorcycles or vehicles arranged by after-school-care center.
